Dear Fellow Trail Users,

The mission of the Wasatch Trails Alliance is to support and help plan a comprehensive and sustainable trail system in Wasatch County, to provide outdoor recreation opportunities and education for locals and visitors and to meet the growing needs of the biking, hiking and equestrian communities.

This year promises to be enormous with even more new trails and connections. Work on the “WOW” Trail, which will be a flagship trail for the Heber Valley, is continuing. This trail will connect the Bonanza Flats area in Summit County through the outstanding terrain in Pine Canyon to the Dutch Hollow trail system. WTA, in partnership with Wasatch Mountain State Park, Friends of Wasatch Mountain State Park and the Mountain Trails Foundation, has received a Utah State administered federal Recreational Trails Program grant of $100,000 for the construction of the trail. This grant requires matching funds or services of $100,000 so it is imperative that the trail user community steps up to make sure this incredible opportunity comes to fruition.

The other big news is Wasatch County has received a $137,000 Utah Department of Transportation grant to study the feasibility of putting a trail alongside of the historic Heber Valley Railroad from Heber to Soldier Hollow. This would connect the Midway/Heber Legacy Trail to the Deer Creek Trail. This spectacular family friendly trail is gaining support from every corner and would be another signature trial that would be a real asset for the Heber Valley.

Last summer Wasatch Trails Alliance helped create over 20 miles of trails in our mountain backyard. A new trail from the Coyote Trail to the Riverview Trail splits the 23 mile loop in half and makes options for shorter loops. Several new trails have also been built in the Coyote Lane to UVU to Riverview areas.

Needless to say we are extremely excited for the opportunities of riding, hiking, and biking that these trails will bring but we need your help to make it happen!

We encourage your support through financial donations, goods and services (such as a Web Site Manager!) and/or your time at our monthly trail maintenance days.
